I kinda see things from the duke's point of view - a noble marriage is a political arrangement, and his family is of higher rank. Who the hell does Ginger think she is, saying she'll end it because her betrothed is fooling around? Hell, if he'd counseled her by pointing out that affairs conducted out of the public eye are the norm and that she should probably not take the arrangement personally, I'd have respected him. I am speculating that rara wrote the prediction book ginger read, and the romance novel he insists on buying is the newer version of the prediction book that he wrote because ginger changed the plot. he is more cautious because he doesn't want the plot to stray anymore than it already has, and I bet he is rooting for lerajie, IDK why, but I am speculating that he is going to make sure the new plot goes smoothly
