Per Wikipedia, those are olfactory organs, aka the nose. And this little fun fact:

The family name Opisthoproctidae is derived from the Greek words opisthe 'behind' and proktos 'anus'.

I didn't really connect with this chapter, even if the art is adorable (yay for surprise color!). Too many tropes and fluff when I was hoping for something a little deeper than just blushing. Actually making progress by the end of the chapter is a net positive, though
