I found this manga really impressive. Different, harsh but wistful, excellent art, awesome stuff.

Cool. First chapter made me think it will be a standard GL plot in historical setting, the kind riding heavily on forbidden and "sacrilegious" aspect of same sex relationships. Second one subverted that notion and transformed the miniseries into something of a coming of age story, with neat twist waiting at the end. There's a little character growth thrown in here, although it occurs without reconciliation with, or understanding of the past, so the ending can be either hopeful or depressing, depending how you look at it.

Drawings are good and their rough aspect helps in conveying sense of stagnation and inescapability of the microcosm that the characters found themselves occupying. If i was to argue, the ambiance of decaying mining town with no visible sense of community nor future prospects is the best thing about that title. That being said, visual symbolism can get little obnoxious at times (closed gate, christian imagery).

In short it's more than good, and if you're a raging yuri fag you'll probably find it the next best thing since [fill in whatever's working for you]. Regardless of personal inclinations it's still most likely worth your time.

^Zephyrus abusing his power, not for the first time. You really shouldn't be in any position of authority dude - last time the thread that you started with explaining how you interpret site's posting rules went so bad, that it led to expansion and slight revision of those rules, because majority of responders couldn't follow your thought process.

For clarity, this is what mr self important moderator labeled as offensive:

This is such a magnificent manga, from the flow of the story to the detail of the art.

Well, that was shockingly good. Others have already commented on the masterful storytelling, so I'd like to talk about the art. I was entranced by its luminous nature. The mangaka is able to make his pictures "glow", coaxing unexpectedly vivid effects out of standard manga inking techniques. I suspect that his loose cross-hatching, careless at first glance, provides the organic, granular feel vital to this purpose. Outstanding! I'll go so far as to say that the reactions the images evoke are comparable to those evoked by decent, even good, literature.
