wanting to start translating, need help!!

hello! i literally made this account just to ask for help lol.

i was recently speaking about manga with a friend and I wanted to recommend my favorite (Gregory Horror Show: Another World) to him. The thing is, most people I know speak only spanish, so I wanted to translate said manga so my friends can read it.

however, i thought of the possibility of also sharing it here, but I don't really know how to do it in a right way. I have GIMP ready but, i don't know if i need the permission of someone, if i can just modify an english translation or anything... I read the copyright section but i want to ask here just to make sure.

You can try to talk to the team, who translated it from japanese, if you can retranslate it.

You can upload your translation in spanish if you follow the rules.

If you need help you can try to recruit people here.

i thought about talking to the team and I still have to do that. but does this means i won't face a legal problem? I love the idea of translating manga and helping the community, even more translating this kind of unknown work.

At most, a DMCA, though I doubt it will affect you.
Worst case, it will be taken down, but I doubt you will be affected, the manga you wanna add doesn't sound like it's one the large publishers will care about

Even using a picture for your profile account in any platform is illegal unless permission is given from the copyright holder, but no one is sued for that. In the event someday you receive some kind of notification, it would be "please, stop uploading that", at that point you may start considering things. As a general recommendation, don't do it for money, ever.
