Was away for a while, and now when I am back and looking at my alerts, it is all new stuff to the end of the page. And likely a fair bit beyond.

How do I page through it (or at least filter for only mentions and quotes, as those are what I care about)? Can't find any relevant api in the API Documentation.

To add onto what Panda said, if in the future you only care about mentions and replies, you can actually turn off all other notifications in your preference section of the settings.
(though this will only be active for future notifications, your old reactions notifications will still in your feed until new ones show up if I remember right.)

At the bottom of the dropdown for alerts is "show all", which will show multiple pages.
Where exactly? Can't spot it at the bottom of the alerts page where you described it would be.

No I care for the other stuff in the future. But it is when I return to a large backlog I only really care for the quotes - and even then it is more like "I would prefer all of it, but can compromise with lacking some for the backlog". And that filtering makes it easier to not miss them when scrolling through many.

Click the bell in the upper left to open the dropdown, and at the bottom of that. On my phone at the moment, else I'd post a screenshot.

Edit: Home now.

On mobile tapping on the bell two times brings you to the list of all alerts. I think it works on desktop too but I'm writing from bed and I can't test right now.

Edit: nevermind, I can't trigger it anymore, but I'm sure it used to work cause I made use of it in the past.

Double clicking on desktop works, though it doesn't seem to on mobile. You can also right click and "open link in new tab/window" (which does work with the long-press on mobile too).

You are in the wrong page (that's not the alerts page), and the button you drew an arrow to is in fact just a link to the alerts page we were discussing.

Afaik that has always been a buggy way to go to the alerts page. Tap the button too fast before page loaded fully (sometimes the second press when trying to minimize the float-panel works too, but that might just be because it registers as a double-press), and it takes you to the alerts page.
Either way it does not get you a list of all alerts like you describe. Just the alerts page.

At the bottom of the alerts page should be page navigation - if you're not seeing it, I'd guess it's because you don't have enough recent alerts to roll over to another page (they time out after five days or so, from what I can see).

The alert page is how you navigate your alerts though.
You go there and you get a list of all the notifications you got since forever.
Yes, and I am asking how you page through all those alerts I have got since forever, since it only shows 1 page worth and I can't find any buttons (to paginate) to get next page.

Because as-is, the alerts page is barely a couple extra notifications than the alerts-float-panel.

I do not get those buttons. They are exactly what I am asking for.
You saw in my prior screenshot how my alerts-page footer looks like.

edit: actually, for some reason they showed up now (likely because of this thread resulting in more notifications making it exceed 1 page, and the first page wasn't full yet), but it only goes to page 2 (which has a single notif in it).
So not all alerts I ever gotten, and fairly sure it is missing some considering that timestamp for the oldest one (as seen in image) says sunday (been away for longer than that).

I don't think they're something you can control - you just get them as needed. (Also should have said four days for the timing out - it's past my bedtime and I've stopped counting.)

Edit - checked the other forum I frequent - also Xenforo based - and it's a 3 day cutoff there. So I would guess this is a sitewide setting for the admins someplace on the back end.
