No her learning to cook has very little to do with her specifically visiting Satsuki, she had plenty of options if she just wanted advice on how it was and Satsuki was realistically her worst option. From the time she went to Satsuki specifically you can no longer say that the cooking was her main purpose, that's just not how things work. Satsuki was the person who would most likely give her bad information, even if just out of rivalry and she knew that. Also, no recent chapters proved anything, the cooking was an aside, just another part of her wanting to be seen as the 'good girlfriend'.
She knows she can cook already, she's not improving herself so much as increasing her appeal to him.

Sure, he just promised that he and Yukari won't do it and end up like his parents...
But I can't shake off the feeling it's gonna be Satsuki he does it with... and then he ends up just like his parents did.
Oh boy, Watari-kun's xx is really going to collapse if that happens.
It's going to be a mess, and making a mess is rather the thing this manga does well.
This is a (unlikely) twist I wouldn't like the story to go through.

Bonus points to Yukari for not keeping Satsuki leaving a secret.
