In all fairness we had the designs for all four of them from the word "go", and "harem" was a tag included since the beginning.

I'd honestly say that I kinda like that Renako has a dedicated arc with each of them one at a time, to give proper focus and develop a relationship with each before moving onto the next. It fleshes out each person, and their dynamics and comparisons as they relate to both one another and to Renako, and also helps grow Renako as a person as she deals with the intricacies of navigating her relationships, the growth of her relationships, and her own growth as a person dealing with her anxieties and social awkwardness.

This feels like a cut above the standard 'harem fare' because it's not juggling multiple heroines simultaneously and relying purely on lewd/ecchi-based comedy.
