At least the extra made the ending feel better since Nana & Arika are reunited again. Some of the questions the translator asked are what went into my mind in the final chapter. Should Arika decide to let the world know she's alive, the culprits & everyone involved will have charges be dropped to attempted murder plus covering up the crime. Still happy that I got to read this story & wish both the author & artist the best of luck in their next work should they team up again or do their own thing. Thank you for a fantastic translation of this manga! It's a little sad we'll never get the answers to some of the questions set up by the author but I really enjoyed this series and I think the ending was very good. I'll now file this away under manga I really love and promptly forget about it for 4 years until I reread it and re-fall in love again.

I guess an optimistic explanation is that Obon is also like one of the only 3? consecutive public holiday periods in Japan.
The hints in the last chapter seem too obvious for it to be just depressing symbolism.

I'm gonna venture that's the real, alive Arika, because ghosts wouldn't really need to board a bus and all.

Welp. ... .... welp. It was a GREAT concept, it was a good work, and it was a pleasant read, but I get the impression this was supposed to go on much, much longer than it did. There's a lot of loose ends left and the typical race to the finish line ending that barely touches on the rest of the cast's fate. I think it peaked with Nana's rise to idoldom, but at some point after that I feel like something idled out, plot-wise, and never quite got back into gear before the ax fell.

Which is a shame, but what can you do. I guess we'll never see this particular story and cast revisited, but I'm glad it ended happily for Nana and Arika.

Honestly, I didn’t really care much about idol culture or anything pertaining to it back in the day, but after reading idol manga like this and Idol x Idol Story (highly recommend if anyone wants something wholesome yet hype after finishing Arika 👍), as well as reading the scanlation notes (love the little character guides and wiki references btw) and comment section, I’m glad that I was able to share this experience with so many others. It’s almost like we’re all fans cheering for the same thing!

Even with all the unanswered questions, I’m still happy to witness how it ended. I agree with the comments saying maybe it got rushed and axed, but in my opinion at least it was at a relatively good stopping point (and not too early like many others 😭)
