I wanna know who the girl with Azami is, mostly. I'm assuming she's the one using the magic/charm effect on Hinako to make Azami appear as a family member, and is seemingly the one doing the memory modification (since she also did it to that teacher during the Reunion Chapter).
So, another monster/yokai/etc. in Azami's employ, though I wonder what sway Azami has over her, for her to be doing the bidding of someone who's ostensibly just an immortal human being. Without knowing "what" she is, though, I can't really guess based on the characteristics we've seen as to what sort of monster/yokai she is, and thus what would bind her to service (whether willingly or otherwise).
That said - 9th grade is honestly more recent than I'd expected for Azami to have first shown up in Hinako's life. It's still terrifying that she was rooted that deeply at all, but I kinda thought she'd have had a hand in the original accident at this point, or something.
Though...that seeming to be a simple freak tragedy, makes it all the worse / more compelling, in my mind - no grand manipluation or machination of Hinako's life; the single worst incident in her existence was entirely a chance event, and then she was taken advantage of by Azami, and rescued by Miko and later again by Shiori.
But this is just one memory; I wonder if there are others as well, including ones that maybe
involve other individuals who are revealed to have been around for awhile longer than assumed, or if there's a number of events involving Azami that will now be made known. It's definitely the genesis of the ongoing revenge plot against our Fish Wife involving Hinako, though.
All that said...her sitting alone at the train depot with the families behind her kinda knocked the wind out of me. The artwork remains beautiful with the paneling, composition, and use of negative space & lighting, but the content is just a gut punch sometimes.
But it's amazing, in the end. So thank you for your continued TL work on this series.
