You are completely correct, but Kamoi didn't really want to date Rion, she just wanted to maintain their close friendship and was willing to play girlfriend/boyfriend to make that happen. As she said, it would give them an excuse to call/message everyday, to visit each other on holidays, etc.
(and being able to run from dealing with her feelings for Stowie would have just been a nice bonus)

And again, you'll be completely correct asserting it is a very bad decision that feels good in the moment but would lead to long term issues. But these are highschoolers and that pretty much describes nearly every decision you make in highschool.

Rion also turned her down because he loves Kamoi but knew it would never work out between them, they were simply too close to be able to date each other, and after having some cope-boning with his cram school tutor got the perspective to know that what she was suggesting would absolutely kill him.

I mean, we know she didn't have those sorts of feelings for Rion, and he even called her out on it at Christmas when she tried to brute-force a relationship between the two of them. Still, finding out what a mess her former bestie left behind and how lonely she feels having been left completely out of the loop on it (not to mention how betrayed she feels by the cram sensei she'd come to see as, if not a friend, at least someone she had some kinship with)... that's gonna leave a mark. And who better to help her deal with it than the guy who always accepts everything from her. Who also just happens to be there again when she desperately needs him to be.

they not even highschoolers, they are middle schoolers if I'm not mistaken
So yeah they would make those mistakes , they do make some more mistake in the future chapters tho, can't wait for the TL
