LN reader here, what can I say is... this is so different from the LN, I don't know about the WN but, why the manga artist make the characters so pitiful? even giving the mc and imouto unnecessarily struggle, especially adding those cringy lines.
c'mon imouto where is your prized weapon Lightning and Fire Dual Hammer?

how it look like to me. is they try to push the childhood friend to be more likable.
also imouto literally hates her. the childhood friend is actually pretty manipulative. mc fails to see that.

a theory i have is that the original premise between them is actually wrong. sinds you only hear it from her side.

who knows maybe he was a super secret character only recruitable if you do some abstract route. like not recruiting the first recruitable character/the childhood friend or associating with her. and seduce souta. like making him give up on her. getting him to lose weight by lvling and turn handsome. is a pretty good secret character for a game.

but because no one likes him, no one(but maybe 1) tries. cause of the premise the childhood friend told the player and everyone else.

Thank goodness im not the only one hating this as a LN reader, wtf i wanted to see the imouto kick ass and overpowered the guy. Instead i get Kaoru finding the strength to overcome a lv 20 character aura despite it set from the beginning that the lvl differences are that overwhelming and my imouto getting scared instead of finding it playful and fun…

If you are only reading the manga and enjoying it, ignore this take. Im so used to the novel that i have a hard time coming to terms with the changes of the manga, including the other LN readers.

Haven’t finished chap yet sooooo is mc just a power tripping loser losing to some noble brat when he supposed to be the elite of elites and know what it takes to win how fucking lame. Manga's approach almost changes the entire theme. It's safe to say its not canon at this point.
Weird choice to make MC outright job and the sister almost got her ass kicked which is not a thing in the source. I also hate that noone actually dies in the entire story (specially the villains) like a PG13 disney show.
