I love the idea too but unfortunately I imagine it would get sucked into becoming a comedy and lose focus of what made this one shot so gooe

I can see it doing Samurai Jack sort of thing where the first episode/pilot setup the story and the rest of it is different while keeping focus on the main character.

Instead of being just him trying to escape from hell constantly being the plot, it's about his...uhh...'life' as part of hell.
Can probably get pretty emotional/drama if done well like how the 'grim reaper' stories can do (Hell Girl, Shigofumi, etc)

And the best part is author already have an easy 'end' card ready - just get to him either leaving hell to reincarnate or choose to permanently stay (you never know, he might have/develop lamia fetish like a certain someone)

I already assumed he decided to stay forever, with that cover image being him ending up looking like that because he's a regular undead.
Edit: He even has the same hand bandages on.

I was talking about if this get turned into a series. The one-shot ending is just him being hired, there's no mention of his own decision in it/how long he plans to do this work for.

The opening showing him as skeleton is likely to hide the 'twist' ending (note how the other people in the hellevator are also shown as skeletons)

Love the overall look of this mangaka's style! Slightly off-putting and vertigo inducing
