What's the problem again?
"If you put a gun into a brother's head, brother's gonna do what he's told -- no matter if they are a fool or a wise man. You don't want a bullet in the brain but if you can make it work and make some benjamins while you at it, then that's cool"

Basically the "old friends" (at least Katie and Vigor) of Denys and some other strongest bunch in the game.

So the only person who makes the king's food and tests it for poison is also the only person who is allowed to see the king? Great way to run a country. This plot development is so incredibly forced. I really wish all manga publishers could afford to hire editors to proofread all the manga they publish.
It's not that the plot development is forced, it's that the world building is incredibly bad. People who shouldn't have power, have power. People who should have power, are powerless because....politics? When the king of a country is bed ridden USUALLY the crown prince/princess assume temporary power to act in the king's place. How the hell does bringing light to an obviously faked report to bad mouth a chef and a restaurant owner lead to a civil war? Bad writing.

Why wasn't the head chef mentioned last chapter if he's such a crucial person in the story development?
I'm pretty sure he was a few chapters ago, as the "that person" that tasked Isabella with finding a way to throw Denys in prison. It seems like Denys' brother is the mastermind of all the plots, so going to him may be playing right into his hands. For what purpose? I don't know. From what little we've seen, he seems like an asshole, though.

From my experience, those with real power wield it quietly and usually with a very deft hand.

The loli Atorie is very angery, scary angery even. Isabella (god I hate this name so much) prepare to die.

Yep politics, typical fantasy story follow real life example actually. It is an issue in a country with a lot of nobility with them having their own private army. They were never united, they were just feudal alliance in a big scale, a little tip to the balance of power could give the opportunists a chance to spark a rebellion, especially if they had been waiting for it.

Also you said bringing light to obviously fake report is not going to start a civil war? We had a war happened for sillier reasons.

Like how a French pastry chef who opened a shop in mexico got his shop ransacked in a riot, asked for a compensation, got ignored by mexico, brought the case to French Embassy, the case heard by King Louis, He got furious and demanded impossible amount of payment, fleet of French navy then sent to Mexico and war started.

Sometimes it's just need a little bit of stimulation if all sides has been preparing for the others.

They did say that the king's chef is basically his right hand man back then.

This arc and that maid is such a hassle. It's like "let's solve the problem!" "nope, you go to jail because politics" "let's rescue him!" "nope, you can't be cause politics" "let's do this other thing to rescue him!" "nope, politics" "ok fine, let's do this super annoying roundabout approach where we follow a secret passage to find some complete stranger who we have no idea if we can trust and try to get him to ask the sick king who we have no idea what kind of condition he's in and whether he has any interesting in helping us to try to save him then..." "...whatever"

What is this absolutely laughable farce? There were witnesses to the whole fight, this is ridiculous.
I seriously hope his former friend won't be spared by some extremely naive reason. I can already picture him comforting her with some bullshit like "It must've been hard, right?". As if she didn't conspire against him like a piece of shit.

So wait, the guy that makes the king's meals is also the poison tester, and the only one with unlimited access to him? That's a terrible idea!
Dude could kill the king, and just say "Oh yeah, he told me this!" Or do what they're obviously doing here and slowly poison him over time, and give nobles that have managed to find him the ability to puppet the king! Obviously people can know who the chef is before he's instated since the Minister is trying to apply, so it's not like people can't sway him with politics before he suddenly becomes faceless.
