So hiding your power is also equally the same as became a meek character and find fault at his job?

So he didn't get kicked out, but he did abandon his friend that stood up for him. What a loser. Feeling sorry for himself, instead of standing up to them. Even if you do get kicked out, it's still better than just sitting there with slumped shoulders, taking abuse from some moron who is probably weaker. He may not be a coward, but he still has the the personality of a little bitch.

Well, the hero-group isn't primarily a group of warriors. They ARE entertainers. And a black mage is obviously a bad entertainer in this setting. That's what really speaks against him. And I do get his reason to quit. If his motivation is to shine, to be a "Hero", and all he gets is being shitted on, even though he is doing a good job, maybe even a great job, this will just eat away at his soul. The problem is, that he will be unemployed from this moment on. He somehow has to find a way to let his magic shine, or at least rip through his enemies brutally, to make it apparent to the audience.

Though that was some backstabbing at his friend, who stood up for him. I hope his friend won't take it too personal, as, you know, you can't always be socially saved by your friend.

Phoenix, it's okay. He's 10 times more awesome than that 'warrior' whose all brawn and no brains.

Black Magic maybe looked down on, but I would like to say this "Don't get rid of your back-up plan." Remme is your backup plan.

Is alvar a leader of the group? I don't think so... but why is that guy(alvar) deciding him to quit? is he got an ultior motive or something? Those guys in that team will regret it and phoenix will be proud to say it though it hurts to abandon him...

Alvar is pretty much the designated idiot of the group. And quite honestly the weakest fucker in the group as well. Someone else was mentioning how 'phoenix' is only strong because of his sword but that's false....ALVAR is only useful because of his sword which is a very expensive magic sword that stretches on command. Lock is a....passable defender, and Lily is one of the three best archers and the only one who noticed anything wrong at all while Reme was around but dismissed it through the storm of hate Reme just let himself take on the chin to keep the party going. In the novel at least Reme pretty much leaves here because his heart was breaking and he realized that if he stayed any longer Feni would probably kill Alvar one of these days or kick out all three other members and he didn't believe that the public would forgive a hero who got rid of his other companions for his perceived as useless friend.

Eh, this MC is garbage. He knows the weakness of his style, but he doesn't even try to explain what he is doing. I mean, how hard would it be to just tell them to have a go at a dungeon with him not casting his magic and with him casting it, as a practice run? Then they'd see what he is providing. He could also discuss with them how best to use his powers, rather than him just reading everyone's mind and doing his own thing. Then they could also discuss a strategy for the viewers to like him, because after all this is entertainment and even if he is competent, if the viewers don't like him they're stuck. This is an extremely competitive world, is he not going to be motivated unless everyone is kissing up to him?

I can see how it's going to go too, the demons are going to kiss up to him and praise him without him actually doing anything differently, because they were on the receiving end and know what he has been doing. The party members were rude, sure, but they're actually motivated people with a goal they want to achieve. It's just that they believe he is in the way of them achieving their goal, and he makes no effort to correct them. Even if he was obviously contributing, a gloomy and passive guy like him doesn't make for good entertainment. He hasn't shown any motivation, even though he has the backing of the strongest member of the party who believes in him and knows how much he is adding to the team.

@Chaeden In the novel does it explain why Remme didn't cast his stuff on his friends to show them his power or otherwise show them what he can do?

@Opticalwinter Only that he didn't want to reveal how effective he was to anyone and in the beginning he thought it'd make them more popular if you all but removed him from the footage and used his powers at the most optimal times to make them all look like badasses without the viewer being any wiser. Then when they got fairly popular and he was bending under the pressure he started trying to show himself more and that he was casting but by then he'd been cemented as 'the carried black mage' and his companions aside from phoenix had already become dazzled by their own 'skill'. Later on after they finally realize it the elf at least basically goes 'Yeah. I really should have figured it out, when I'd do training out of the dungeon it never went as well but I just figured I was a person who performed best under pressure.'

Meanwhile magic sword dickhead acknowledges it the least and both him and the knight all but learned the industry IN that party with the blackmage so they just though they were top shit. They aren't bad (though take the magic sword from dickhead and unsurprisingly he's just a dickhead) but they functionally learned 'these enemies are just bad, they clump up too much, they hit too lightly and slowly to shake my shield arm' so the moment he went away it was suddenly 'Holy shit, why do these small fries scatter and make me hunt them one by one?' and 'My arm is going numb, he's swinging to fast to get my shield in the way from that stance now'.

But yeah, basically just that he was FAR more fervent in protecting his master's privacy and his own safety back then. At his level of magic government will start getting worried when he can basically drop a city in a day without looking like he's doing anything, and honestly I personally wouldn't trust dickhead with any secrets ever.
