What kind of characters do you like the most? Do you like the basic harem MC with no traits that stick out except for the fact that "he's nice", or do you like the kind of guy that never fails at anything?

I, for one, like the respectable strong delinquent, he never gets beaten up, and he cares when it counts.

I like big, dumb BRUTE STRENGTH guys. Nothing quite as cathartic as seeing weedy little mastermind nerds get pummeled into the ground by some low-IQ neanderthal. There's also something very charming about them if they're extremely loyal or very honest. What you see is what you get; no tricks, just BRUTE STRENGTH. They don't make for the best protagonists, but they're easily one of my favorite supporting character types. Bittenfield best commander.

A loli, who is mentally mature. The combination of a smart/mature mindset inside a cute but not completely over-exaggerated body is always something that can make me instantly like a character.
FBI can't arrest me if the loli is legal😏.

Also, an MC that can recognize a problem, think of a solution, and act on it is another favorite. Even if the actions are nonsensical/dumb, the mc makes an effort to actually change something and be a part of an environment that does simply exist for plot convenience.

Boys that find crossdressing embarrassing and deny the urge to crossdress but when requested, comply anyways and are uncomfortable with how they're dressed but are extremely weak to compliments - creating a gradually growing dependency to words of validation they've never received before, they still act like a boy even if they're dressed like a girl but they lose any will to fight against what's about to happen to them when they're backed into a corner by their male best friend and get overpowered by their superior masculinity.

I'm fine with most charactertypes that don't make me face-palm all time.
Because face-palming can hurt, especially after snacking on wasabi-peanuts.

Unless it's for comedy reasons, I cringe at those characters that should have high IQ but actually lack common sense.

The vtuber in my pfp is a great example. Hardworking, self depreciating humor and a dork.

The trickster archetype (clever, crafty and playful character) is by far my favorite, these kind of characters never ceases to amaze me
Also, it's not exactly an archetype, but the "mysterious main character" is a good concept if well done (I mean specifically the type of mc that little to none background or insight are given, creating a hunger for knowing it. And the more you know, the more you will want to know. That is a delicious trap that I'm willing to fall on)

the HERO type, the one who did what they did with a simple goal or reason
like itadori form JJK(idk if hes considered as a hero but) he just wanted everyone to have a right death or die in a normal/proper way, that's so fuckin COOL.

Women with a cruel/sadistic streak or just who don't base their whole personalities around being uguuu kawaii, but I do like most anime women with backbone
Men who are stupid but nice or very sweet
