I haven't really seen anything good this week :nyoron: there has been a bunch of uploads here on thursday and friday, but it's all just been super boring. Could be a me problem maybe I judge manga too harshly, but I just think this weeks manga has been exceptionally weak

There was an Ura Baito upload recently, so it's not that bad for me.
You feel like reading Manga chapters has become routine. If you need to feel something, I think the cure would be marathoning a series that excites you from beginning to end.

Okay, this could be interesting.
Might visit this thread weekly then.
But instead of best update of the week, I'm going to make it my "best new read" of the week,
as in the first time I read it, not newly published title.
Because I read a lot.

for completed series: Ao Natsu, a nice short teen romance.
for ongoing series: Shukufuku no Ceska, really interesting 2 volumes, and then I found out that the fan translation is also ongoing here

I read Hatsu Haru this week.
Wouldn't say it was amazing or anything. It was very much a predictable story.
But it was still a nice read compared to the other trash fire I begrudgingly read.

None of the new ongoing manga I'm reading this week are particularly noteworthy.
But I did pick up the English release of Shinimodori no Mahou Gakkou and a couple other isekai manga, so it's still a good week.

Read a lot of good manga this week.
I guess for best new completed, I'd go with Wagatsuma, as I mentioned in my status before.
It gave me quite a few laughs, tho the ending was less than satisfying.

For the best new ongoing, I'd say Tsui no Hanayome gave me some intrigue.
There's also this new bunny girl romcom. Might be interesting, idk.

And I'll close this post with one of the biggest lies I read this week.

For new completed read this week, I read two Alice in Wonderland stories. Both are good.
Wonderland has a sad ending, and Battle Royal has no ending.
So both are sad.
For new ongoing read, I think this Regression Villainess is okay.
It's not original by a mile, but I haven't found something that bafflingly took me out of the story or insultingly stupid plot bit. So it's the best for the week.
I also liked Migawari no Hanayome, but it's too Shoujo Fantasy coded, so it's not really for everyone.
So I'll throw Ryukyu Buccaneer for the boys.
It's like Jigokuraku meets One Piece meets Golden Kamuy.

Hello to my weekly update!

I remember my friend recommended Kono Sekai no Katasumi to me along time ago, but I only got around to reading it now.
And I think it's really good. The anime is also really good.
Really like it. Really sad.

For the ongoing one, Bokura ni wa Bokura no Kotoba ga aru is a very good, very compelling teen drama story.
Might turn into BL at some point, idk. So, proceed with caution.
My only uh... gripes (I guess?) is about the English title.
I mean, I don't know who translated it, looks cool, sure. But since I couldn't find any official information, I don't necessarily agree with it.
But that's just me.

Other stuff I read this week I feel like worth mentioning
I really want to like Youhei to Shousetsuka.
I like the characters, their dynamics, really reminded me with another manga which I also really enjoyed.
The problem is that the pacing is basically an exposition vomit.
It felt like the authors had a clear vision of how the ending should be, and then they just fast track from point A to point B in 3 volumes.
It didn't feel like it was axed, but things should've been fleshed out in 2 more volumes at least.

Outen no Mon is also pretty good. It's like the male version of Maomao from Kusuriya Hitorigoto, minus all the romance plot. I tried to read ahead, but the Japanese is too hard, so I'll just wait for the translations.

For shoujo, I'll put Baby Prisoner here.
The story is really similar to other typical shoujo manhwa, especially the one with currently aired anime, but I think this one is even better.
And I really liked it.

My final weekly best new read/recommendation for 2025.
Recency bias to the max, as I just read Horeta Hareta Panda today.
I really liked the cute art of the mangaka's previous work, and I can still see that cuteness here,
so this instantly became the best for the week.

Next, I can't say that Gachikoi Yakuzaa is a good manga, more so that it is an interesting one to me.
Because the artist, apart from his first work, is notorious for creating such dogshit horrible torture fetish dumpster fire of manga.
And I've fucking read them all.
But this one was written by another author, and I quite enjoyed the comedy.
The story itself is pretty superficial. Problems faced are basically barely an inconvenience.
But it did give me some laugh. And I also liked the ending arc.
It still have the erotic aspect (as expected from the artist) but very minimal.

That's all, folks.
See you next year

Best new read for was Marriage of Convenience.
This is the first time I read manwha with .5 chapters to show the nude sex scenes.
(I don't read pornwha, and most manwha I read are pretty wholesome)
So if you skip those .5 chapters, there's nothing erotica in this manwha.

I'm gonna be real here, the latest chapters of this thing are pretty sick. For being a pornographic cash grab of an ecchi series with an absurd premise, the writing gets fire at times.

My best new read this week was Ctrl+Alt+Resign.
The story is just a very standard, cookie cutter, loner-guy x popular-girl trope.
But the art is really, really good. It is very well drawn.
The girl looks pretty, the drawing is clean, and I can't give enough of a high praise for the depiction of the IT/dev office environment.

Almost all manga always have that same salaryman look: shirts, suits, and black ties, the same desk layouts, and those black company tropes, for just about any job imaginable.
While that's true to a certain extend, but as someone who has worked in the industry for almost two decades, I always like "yeah, these mangaka don't know shit about programmers".
As far as the setting depiction alone, I think this is the best one I've read so far.

I guess I'm gonna just put Sakikaeri-hime too in here, because I'm a sucker for this kind of stories.

this is tricky but Stop Fighting And Go to Bed

The story follows Hee-so, a 24‑year‑old who’s never dated before and finally starts a “perfect” relationship only to have it collapse on its first night when reality doesn’t match the fantasy. She ends up at a lesbian bar with her friend Jayeon meets Joohee and what starts as a drunken connection quickly turns into something deeper.

One spoiler moment that really stuck with me Hee-soo and Joohee end up going to a motel together, only for Joohee to walk out when she sees a message from Hee‑soo’s ex‑boyfriend leading to a whole mess of misunderstandings between them.

this is a yuri.

edit: What makes this GL stand out isn’t just the smut or the adult college life setting, but how it handles confusion, guilt, and crossing emotional boundaries.

After skipping last week, now I'm back!
Had a lot to do last week with that one gay manga, and traveling, and snow playing, and whatnot, so I thought I'd just combine my best new read from the past two weeks into one.

First is Furueru Migite, a new manga from MangaPlus.
The story is not original by any stretch of the imagination. It's been done many-many times before.
It's just that I like stories like this because when I was in middle school I wrote a very similar story just like this one.
So I'm looking forward to the mystery in this one.

The second is Break New World.
Equilibrium the manga, essentially, but with magic(?) instead of gun-fu. Interesting artsyle also.

The third is Ai da toka Fukushuu da toka.
The first chapter really caught me off guard. The tension kinda mellowed down after that, but I still enjoyed it.

And lastly, I guess I'll just include Kakeochi Girl. Just because.
