Well, Erin would have died if not for the magic saving her. So I guess the payback is the suffering she is now going thru. I think in the case of Rowan and the crown prince going head-to-head, this would have happened regardless of Erin being in his life. It doesn't seem like the prince would have left Rowan alone anyways. It's just probably happening sooner rather than later, where it would probably be when their children are born and other games would be played.
