Novel Ending Spoiler
Comparing this to The Queen Season 1 is an insult to TUTU. TUTU writes about ethnic cleansing, genocide and questions our value system, without being unnecessarily graphic (plus, in Season 1, Ling Zhi never drove the plot, without her the plot and story still exist; in the end, when she became the main focus in Season 2, 75% of TUTU's Chinese readership just dropped The Queen). There is nothing to think or figure out about "Who's the prey". For me, this whole work is a sort of strange fanservice.
After a lot of unnecessary suffering, cruelty and gratuitousness (the main male character had a lot of pain in his life, etc. etc. - if ever there is a person who can accept that evil breeds evil, it is me; just that I do not see how that translates into having a woman gang-raped and having that filmed; there are limits to everything), the main male character fell in love with the female character who hates him and loves her kind lover. She ends up pregnant with the main male character's child after they supposedly got married (don't ask me). But the main male character lets her go, asking that she does not abort his child. Thing is, he had her miscarry and abort all the children she was having with her kind lover throughout the ordeal.
The main male character lets her leave at the end (without killing her kind lover) as the police is kicking in his apartment. What happens to him? Either he got shot, either he shot himself. There was a gunshot and a man's scream. I know he wrote her a love letter she found in her car about how he regrets, about how he wishes they had started differently (instead of having her gang-raped multiple times, indeed). She goes to have the main male character's child aborted. Her kind lover doesn't let her because it is her child, though she told him how main male character made her lose all of their children. But they are not like the main male character, they are good people. Good people don't kill innocent lives, yada yada.
In the end, they keep the child and it seems it is mostly her kind lover who takes care of it.
