That was just about the best possible outcome. I'm glad that the story didn't take a turn to move the plot along with the Magic Surveillance Bureau, even if it would have been the obvious thing to do.

Is overcoming prejudices going to be a theme in this manga going forward? The chapter ends on "an encounter with two kindhearted girls, nothing more or less." Kurt definitely knew, but this encounter changed his perception of mages just a tiny bit. It would be cool if we saw more of him later, when the average citizen becomes aware of Quovelta's activities.

There's no way that won't come back to bite them.
The bureau is crazed for power to the point where they clearly don't care about casualties on their side, never mind shooting innocent victims, so surely someone having "proof" will lead to some investigators turning up at Kurt's door sooner or later. Gotta hope he's (not?) drunk then
