I feel like there's something I'm not getting here, but Kyuu-chan's cute so it's all good. :3

I'm guessing Kyuu-chan mixed up the bowls (ie. it's supposed to be a black bowl for miso soup and the blue/white for rice). Japanese tableware typically has specific uses to them.

i think that was on purpose as the end pic shows a larger serving?

kyuu chan put the rice and soup in the wrong bowls.

ceramic gets hot so soup in there makes it hard to hold, and rice in wooden bowl makes the grains stick to it.

I've always thought it's a bit amusing how quickly it got changed from Kyuu-chan eating cat food to human food. I think it does make for more adorable stories this way though.
