I'm fine with him taking fifteen years to finish this series if it means it'll be a timeless masterpiece that I can enjoy decades into the future like his other works.

I'm going to die of old age before this finishes.

@Bracken you mean a timeless masterpiece where the bad guy regrets being a bad guy at the very end because no one is allowed to be actually evil in a Mizukami story (because apparently they're all in the same universe).

@Duralumin You're a wonderful human being, I tell ya. You've been translating nearly all of Mizukami works on Mangadex lately, thank you! If you have the time, you should consider doing his autobiographical comic, Ore no Mangamichi (Kari) that he posts on Twitter. Only if you want to, of course.

Thank you yet again!

@anoman I want nothing more than for them to actually be in the same universe so Senya can finally show up again in another one of his works.

@Duralumin Take your time my man, just letting it out there and it's kind of easy to miss with its long periods between chapters.

Someone should change the default title mangadex lists this as. "World End Solte" is the official english title Mizukami set for the series. It's right there on the very first page. Where did "Solte the Traveler" even come from?

The title of this japanese comic book was discovered through a complex and little-understood arcane process the ancients referred to as "trains-lay-shun."

@Duralumin
And what part of 最果て translates into "Traveler"? That's a really far reaching "trains-lay-shun".

This is a story about Solte traveling to the end of the world, so that's how the meaning of "Solte of/at the End of The World" gets represented. Nothing should be translated literally Just Because, but especially not titles, and when authors who don't speak English whip up a batch of alt text à la google it should be taken under advisement, not as gospel.

The pace is so painfully slow that I think even Houseki no Pages someone beats it for speed.

You aren't the author. It's his title and it doesn't matter how ridiculous you think it is, World End Solte is the official english title. The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer was a nonsense title too but that's what people know it by in english and Hoshi no Samidare in moon. Pushing an alternative that was never endorsed by the author, the publisher, licensor or even the fan community is only going to cause needless confusion. Don't be one of those guys who pretends the series is their property and needlessly "improves" the content just because you're translating it.

Also, "Solte the Traveler" is downright generic and unmemorable compared to its actual titles and I've never actually seen anyone refer to this series by that name. Translation-wise you can't even derive the original meaning of "Ends of" from that "translation" even with context and it just makes it sound like it's going to be a Kino's Journey ripoff.

@Meijin For what it’s worth, I agree with you. I think the scanlator consider it their right to change the title. It’ll be impossible to convince them otherwise.

The author has set “World End Solte” as the title. As shown on the cover page of the first chapter, which for some reason is not included in the scans. But others can check the website if interested.

“World End Solte” is perhaps not a great title, but neither is “Solte the Traveler”.

I find it interesting they specifically chose an image without the title as the mangadex’s cover image. If you check the magcomi page or other promotional material, there’s a version of the same image but with the Japanese and English title on top of it.

I like the series so far. It being quarterly is going to make this a slow grind, but I am willing to ride it out. Love Mizukami's work always. Was curious about more info, so I came on down to the comments and discover the translator decided to "translate" the title into something else when it is already called World End Solte. That is just so needlessly confusing for readers/fans. I checked other websites and it is called World End Solte on literally every other popular website for discussion and reading.
