So, looking at it from her perspective: maybe she couldn’t sever the current contract, just transfer it subject to a combination of circumstances: a) there has to be a life-threatening emergency, and b) the current master can’t be found, and c) there has to be another willing, free person to take on the contract. That’s the only way this could work. C) might be optional, but I can see the magic contract allowing an exception with a) plus b).
