I thought that was exactly what happened though? We saw him take apart the goblins (complaining about it being hard to stomach cutting up something humanoid), the apothecary said the price went up, & suddenly he was able to tell the lads he had enough/ almost enough money to buy the fancy weapons he couldn't before. Earlier it was mentioned that the weapons cost as much as a Ferrari, so if he's on the brink of buying 4 of them then those black eyeballs made him VERY rich, lol.
