That final explanation of Mu's Radar ability, honed through training and experience, reminds me of Jonesy in Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series, that submarine crew with extreme skill of decoding sonar returns.

I remember that one scene where, after leaving the navy to start a civilian company, Jonesy was invited to help verify the analysis of some sonar readings, and within a couple of minutes he successfully decoded the results exactly as the naval analysts had done. And rightfully boasting, "Who's the all time champ, gentlemen?"
