I knew I couldn't be the only one that thought it odd that Touru was calling him 'Pops' when the MC has over a decade on him.

He might be gay, divorced, asexual, or widowed. Or maybe he's just been focused on his business to ever seek out a wife. If he is indeed 40-50 (rather than mid-twenties, as Touru said) then he might have grown children (in the divorced or widowed scenarios). If so, it's possible that he only had daughters, and they've long since moved out. Even if he had sons the armourer is still rather young to leave the shop to them, even with him being in his forties, so they could have jobs elsewhere. Or, maybe they're working in the back of the shop, and we just haven't seen them.
