Well I mean the publication ended with only 2 manga volumes (/ 14 chapters). But I think it was probably juste meant to promote the LN, it might have been planned from the start to only get a few volumes.

So maybe not axed and just planned for a few volume to get the LN more popular (/sell more copies).

does make me think about that one other isekai that had a premise of a fallen god that got punished for doing this kinda scenario though

I'm extremely late, but the rumor I heard is that the mangaka was unable to juggle writing and life/school obligations and decided to give up on this. A shame, but I understand.
