Here's a pretty good video I watched recently about Mt. Tengu and Honzawa Onsen.

Solo climbing is fun, but sometimes you don't know your limits well enough and go for some pretty crazy stuff. Although going for some crazy 3 mountain route was fun, I was basically alone in the mountains without any phone signal, and now that I look back on it I just think "what the hell was wrong with me". It really is quite enjoyable, though.
While this chapter talks a lot about waterproof jackets, waterproof gloves are also immensely important. The hands are pretty far away from the rest of the body, so it gets cold more easily compared to the legs, which usually warm up as you walk. I was unlucky enough to bring gloves that weren't actually waterproof to Mt. Fuji, and if you've ever had wet hands in ~3C weather you'll understand how uncomfortable it can be.
Moral of the story: just check your equipment properly and make sure it does what it says it's supposed to be able to do. (Also, my jacket might've been a bit too small for me, so I ended up getting rain in my face because the hood couldn't fully cover my head. I still like the jacket, and it's perfectly warm, but I pray I'll never have to walk in the rain with that again. So there's another thing to learn from for anyone planning to buy a rain jacket. I didn't know how important that brim was. )
