Fuck l never considered that Kase would just play super dense and not recognize it as a confession...
God damn it. I spent like two months theorizing about how the conversation would go. That Kase might get mad that Fukami had interfered with the move for selfish reasons. That Kase would go apologize to Yamada for down playing her very justified concerns. That Kase would open to Fukami about her relationship with Yamada. That Kase might come out to the rest of the team. That Fukami would finally figure out their relationship on her own because of the Hickey.
But fuck. We're stuck with this stupid god damn race plot for good it seems. And who knows how long its going to take to actually get to the race.
I think the idea is all supposed to call back to the original "Yamada is Jealous and Suspicious of Kase's relationship with a track friend" arc from the original story which also resolved when Kase and that girl had a race.
Kase coming out to her track team, and moving in with Yamada feel like the last arrows in the authors quiver of big plot developments so I guess they are reluctant to use them quickly. Kase and Yamada's families have been such a small part of the story so far that coming out to them doesn't feel like it matters but I guess we could eventually lead into it at some point. I doubt coming out to any one else in her life who doesn't already know would drastically change things for Yamada. But there could be potential drama for Kase since shes a star athlete. I get how coming out could stir up problems for her at school and potentially ruin her future if people get super icky and homophobic about it. And moving in together/ getting married is usually the end point of these series so we probably wont get that till the end, but I do like when series carry on and show a bit of married couple life so I guess I'll keep looking forward to it and hope we move past the "race" arc soon.
