Yeah, that's why I put "never" in quotation marks. It's kinda like back when people said the tsundere never wins. Same thing. People have selective memory. But also, more characters lose than win, so any character type would lose more often than they win just by statistical probability.
It's actually only because of another trope "main girl wins"

A lot of times, childhood friends are just tacked on for a cheap love triangle or to make it a harem (that's not a real harem by the way, since authors now have the guts to do real harems)...

And that's more because they are side characters than because them being childhood friends.

That's why I think it's a false trope... because them being childhood friends was never a factor into if they would win/lose...

That's largely irrelevant in this context. Any type of girl can be the main girl, including the tsundere childhood friend, so at the end of it it doesn't affect the numbers.

That's the first thing I mentioned, before you entered that discussion.

And yeah, "harems". Mostly about girls fighting each other for the MC, rather than cooperating in a real harem. For obvious reasons, you find more real harems in hentai.

That was the point of my comment... the childhood friend losing isn't a trope, it's just randomly common.

Any girl can be a main girl and mostly main girls win...

And the reason real harems are more common in hentai is because it's hentai...

High School DXD was what popularized the real harem in the main stream... OreImo made real family into members....

Guys childhood friends losing is common and a trope. It has 2 reasons.

1. They are easy to introduce to an ongoing love story as a cheap immediate rival since they have history with the male lead. Unlike a brand new character who needs to go through some hoops to get in which requires author to actually work. (greatest well done example is 100 Kanojo. That author is actually insane)
2. They are boring and can't really invoke sympathy in the reader easyly. They don't pursue the MC for whatever reason for years and as soon as someone appear, they try to jump on his dick acting all pissed.

I'll agree with the first premise, but I disagree with the second. A character being a childhood friend is secondary to the circumstances of their existence themselves. Going on the assumption they took no action, presumes awareness of their feelings and their significance. Now, I'll absolutely concede that the "standard" is long unrequited love that's never acted upon, but that circumstance in itself is a trope, and not inherent to "childhood friend" status. I'd have to dredge my memory for the examples, but I've come across several where there was no unrequited love prior to the story. I guess it's really a case of what circumstances or tropes are applied to a "childhood friend", but, due to the accurate first premise, the " typical" applications are overused and boring, but not necessarily the character type in itself.

And yes, Nakamura and Nozawa are outside of their minds, I can't imagine their storyboards and ToO.

I don't think that's the same group. I think that's someone posting rips of the Mangamo official English release, which is against the Mangadex upload rules.
I had no idea that this series had a official English release to it.

I had no idea that this series had a official English release to it.

It's listed on the main series page here under the "read or buy" header from some app called Mangamo. Looks like they allow people to read the first 35 chapters of this then you have to pay.

I'm beginning to think Grand Central has died. It's now been 5 months since their last update on here, this is the last series they worked on too. They have a discord link on their group page but I can't check it because for some reason my computer hates the discord app right now and makes it think I don't have an internet connection (which I very much do because I'm writing this post)

EDIT: I got the discord server to open in my browser and... it's barren. Maybe there's some extra step to opening up other channels or something but the announcements channel hasn't been updated in months and there's no indication that they're either alive or dead.
