Ive been on the recieving end of this, its how they try to casually get information by planting a conversation within ear shot of the person they're inadvertly talking about. Its a rather messy way of doing it that's probably gonna have someone hurt. But it does inform people a lot about just how much work theyre gonna have to put in making two specific people a couple

Oooh, I was so sure he was gonna say Hono-chan but I figured he hasn't really seen them together at all. I'm, like, fairly confident that Kanie isn't really into Suzukawa, but I wonder if Iida feels anything for her. I really loved the moment when Iida was looking at Honoka's grubby face, I thought it was cute. I imagined if they were further along in their relationship, he might've reached out to rub her cheeks... or maybe that's more of a Kanie move. Even so, cute. I was also really moved by her crying at the top of the kofun. I'm glad she's grown so much and that she and Tomoha have smoothed things over and made the effort to understand one another.

Oh man this is a mess lol. I'm really enjoying how unclear it is where everyone's going to end up in six months. Kanie obviously likes Honoka, but Iida is an enigma and Honoka probably is mentally writing off Kanie as an option due to his connections atm and can't even try to think of him that way consciously yet.
