I forget if we've gotten any sort of history/backstory for Chita, but I almost kinda wonder if all of this eating is her just masking/running away from deeper issues, that may (or may not) have been hinted at previously.
The sudden "I'm full" sorta feels like she's been "eating her emotions" all this time--whether it's fear of change/growing up, her distance from Tokio and from her other friends (the latter being in the process of moving forward with school/relationships/life), or just general dissatisfaction with her lack of channel growth and stagnant position in life, or something.

I agree that hearing a "random stranger" pinpoint the exact impersonal dynamic she has with Tokio--someone she's known since they were children--was significant. I don't think she's actually internalized why it affected her so badly; she did go back to just stuffing her face, after all (again--"coping mechanism", maybe?), so I definitely don't think we're even halfway through whatever moment Chita's having, much less if it sees her having moved forward in some manner, all said and done.
Of the three pairs though, Chita and Tokio are the least developed. I feel like the expectation is for Chita to "grow up" and get into a romantic relationship with Tokio, though I think it's fine if they don't go "conventional" and actually stay friends, but with Tokio becoming an actual partner and close friend.
Whatever the case regarding that, I think the priority is for Chita to actually grow up a bit and get over her fear of change and learn to be less selfish/self-centered when it comes to all of her relationships. Toyoda & Anju are moving forward in their lives, but Chita keeps trying to drag them back to her position, and that's not healthy for anyone.
Maybe Tokio's role will be there to help Chita in that general effort - and whatever "role" he takes at her side, I guess we'll see.
I agree with you in principle. Chita has been using her "Foodie Gremlin" persona to effectively hide from the growing realization that her relationship with Tokio needs to be addressed. It's becoming clearer that her "annoying presence" has been an, until now, effective way to avoid confronting the reality of the situation. Anna and Seto are practically married, Inuyama and Toyoda are growing their own relationship, and what does she have?! Tokio, but now other girls are seeing him as a potential boyfriend.

She having her "Makoto no Kokoro" moment, and because of that realization, she can no longer use her prolific gorging to mask her feelings. She can't hide from her truth, she and Tokio need to define their relationship now...

even more than a relationship with Tokio, I hope this is the start of Chita growing up and addressing that resistance she has to the passage of time.
If the point is for her to pair up like Anjou & Toyoda did, that's fine - I personally feel like that's the author going "all her problems are fixed by getting with someone", which feels shallow to me. But it's a romcom manga, so I get it - the romance is kinda the point at the end of the day.

But I really just want to see whether Chita comes to accept the fact that she can't selfishly hold her friends back and expect them to stay "in stasis" with her, and not go off with their boyfriends and pursue school & higher education and set long term goals.

I'm not of the camp of readers who find her annoying, nor do I personally dislike her - but she's comparatively flat as a character, and the "odd one out" among the established recurring cast in that way. So I'd like to see her given the same amount of care and not treated as a Gag by the author, especially when her "comedy" risks screwing up the arcs of the likes of Anjou and Toyoda by trying to hold them back.

I can't bring myself to care about this pairing, we've already got a solid side pairing, which is connected enough to be semi relevant and enjoyable.

Also I feel a chicken onsie would fit chii better since tokio is in a fox one.

Well, she did wear a mouse one. And I'm pretty sure foxes do tend to find more mice to eat than chicken. Them hunting mice beneith the snow and doing that cute jump where they end up "nailed into the white ground" like in some american cartoons? Should be rather well know I assume? That's hunting mice, as I said, not chicken.

Sure, foxes do hunt and eat chicken, the whole flock will be slaughtered in fact. But that doesn't change that a mouse is just as much of a prey :thonk:

In this trope, this is the kind of girl I hated. Not the most, but still top 3.

Chii, you stupid donut

I'm glad you decided to ignore everything else I said to pick at the thing I threw in at the end because I got baited into picking at it.

Let me put it this way, then: I don't think that watering down words like "incel" does anyone any good. Remember, not everyone you dislike is Hitler, people.
No, fuck you. Too much of modern discourse is coddling people who are disingenuous and awful. If you don't want to be treated like an incel, don't act like an incel. If you don't want to be treated like a nazi, don't act like a nazi. I refuse to normalize bad behavior just because you don't want to feel bad about yourself.
