I remember when all you fuckers were complaining about the second couple in this manga and how you “couldn’t wait until we got back to the actually good couple” then the second couple actually started to progress and got better you were all like “This couple is so much better than the main couple” and would complain whenever we got the main couple. And now that the author is working on the third couple now it’s all “this couple suck, we don’t want to see progress or character growth when are we getting back to the good couples?” Well according to y’all none of them were good until y’all decided they were. God all of you suck, not even trying to give this a chance. You can have your say once we finish this arc that we’ve only just begun.

if this bitch just stayed a side character instead of getting multiple little arcs of zero progress then nobody would be complaining.

this would have been acceptable progress 50 or 100 chapters ago. but it's 2026 now. and here's the thing - i don't think they're getting together. i think toki + chii was a doomed pairing from the start. author has spent SO many pages selling chii as a feral animal and a narcissist that it's way too fucking late to try to convince me as a reader she can learn to love other people.

so either they're going to reverse course and completely butcher the characterization that, again, we are hundreds of chapters deep into doubling down on - or this is all a setup to establish once and for all that they won't be romantically connected, in which case the only possible reason to be emotionally invested in this plot is for the tears of the half dozen people who cry about how unpopular chii is in every comment thread. lol

To the people seething about "whiners", I'll write a little words of why I find Chii a terrible character in general and why the Chii / Tokio pairing is a horrible thing for the manga, specially comparing it to the other 2 couples:

• She's extremely unidimensional and could be summarized as "Gremlin who likes to eat" up until 20 chapters ago (180 chapters into the manga). not much better now, but at least now she has a (boring) personality.
• Childish, narcissistic, uninteresting.
• Her relationships with the other characters are basically her being a brat for different reasons and people accepting it because, no depth, no emotion, no nothing.
• Tokio has ZERO reason to like Chii, aside from "for some reason I liked her when we were younger".
• They don't have related hobbies / interests, they don't interact at all, even when they are together (most chapters with them until now are basically Tokio watching her eat and having monologues in his head, it's basically a WORSE Rent a Girlfriend, and that hits HARD).

So we have 2 very interesting couples with 4 very interesting characters with deep and meaningful character arcs.
And we have this shit.

So of course people don't like eating shit knowing they could be feasting on a delicious meal. Fuck Chii chapters.

I almost wonder if that was intentional - to further "visually illustrate" how not in-sync the two of them are, and underpin Chita's distance with Tokio that the streamer calls into focus.

The author's paid attention to the details before when it comes to the artwork. I could see that being an aesthetic-coded indicator to the ongoing tension.

It has to be intentional, it is too much of a coincidence. The other couples have similar outlook that matches their relationships. Anjou
