The way I read it, going by expressions, Inu's aware that would be her expectation, so he's specifically making a show of not being bothered, just in case she doesn't want to bring it up directly. He can read and soothe Toyo pretty well, we've seen it before.

Man, he let her off way easier than she did when he misspoke a while back.

To be fair, they doooooon't really have an equal relationship, at least as far as their generally accepted attractiveness goes.
