In real life, actual Playboy Bunny suits are pretty effective for what they're designed for: accentuating a curvy body shape. Say what you like, but Playboy knows how to make a woman look attractive.

I have no idea why they're so popular in Japan, given that "curvy body shape" in Japan is less about being sexy and more about paying extra taxes for being fat*. They don't look good in most manga drawing styles either even if the woman in them is curvy.

Case in point: in real life, a woman shaped like Kobachi would probably look better in the bunny suit, but in this manga the nightie beats it hands down.

* I'm not saying healthy western women are fat, I'm saying Japan's standards for body fat are a bit on the insane side.

To each their own, I guess. I've never been a big fan of nighties in real life (although they work well in manga, as seen in this chapter), but I'll be the first to admit it's a matter of taste.
