It'd only suck if it's executed poorly, all you need to do is put some thought into it and balance out the serious action with the comedy instead of winging it and giving in to slow-life slop. You can switch things up by leaning towards one side JUST long enough to make the return to status quo refreshing, or set up for an unexpected gag/drama-shift... Hell, One Punch Man kinda felt like that in small doses, but it's not really what I'm envisioning.
