It's been like 4 years since this ended, and all I remember is the JP fanbase (bcs it did have online readers, though they weren't buying shit) being utterly confused with the 2nd part, split between "This sure was one of the manga of all time" and "This was a waste of time" (and a happy minority bcs they liked the 2nd FMC).

Overall negative enough that the mangaka went MIA, but seeing how his art isn't half bad, and how the publisher kept giving him chances, it wouldn't surprise me if he has continued working under a different pen name (as many mangaka have done in these kinds of situations).

I feel like I should write once more simply to warn the future readers.

This is like a dangerous cave, there is nothing precious to be gained here, only pain.
The author made sure to make an MC that remained pathetic to the end, with an alternative path that started by burning bridges with the first and then turned the ending of that first one into a delusion, retroactively ruining it (further).

The negative qualities of the MC somehow got amplified in the second part, he is more insecure, he achieves less with his GF and meanwhile we see the Ex advance and enjoy a better life as if the author was telling us that a better love story was happening beside us and that she was better of with anyone but the MC.

Finally, they started dating. Even though the ending only went as far as showing MC proposing to Riri. There wasn’t any timeskip marriage scene or them having children, while even MC’s friends got marriage scene Well, at least it’s not like that one guy next door spending 400+ chapters with absolutely zero progress...uhuk-uhuk KANOKARI

I also forgot, but I think the first part was axed with MC marrying Raira at the end, or the mangaka decided to conclude it. Who knows.

Then it gets picked up from a different publication, and rather than continue along with Raira, the author decided to start a completely new route with a different girl.

That's just how I'm making sense of it in my head. Again, I could be completely wrong.
