I don't think injury is in the cards here; the prince has been getting thrown on the hard ground repeatedly without really doing anything to break his fall and is fine, so he's apparently really sturdy.
I would say that the main issue is that the prince might be in a position where he no longer has the stamina to get back up and fight but he still won't surrender. This shows a complete inability to face reality even when it's hula dancing on his face, which never looks good, and also a lack of respect for his opponent since he won't acknowledge that they are better than him even after being evidently shown. So by surrendering himself, he leaves it into the air that the prince might have still surrendered if it had continued just a bit longer while making the statement that he has accomplished the purpose of this spar, which is to show how strong he is, so he has no need to continue.
