One of mine does like the occasional belly rub, the other one just shows her belly to show that she's comfortable/feeling playful. I hear it's the latter for most cats

Them showing belly to let you rub them usually mean they trust you enough and they know it's safe around you, there was an old cat in my grandma's house that let me rub her belly all day cuz we've known each other for years.

Yeah, it's really nice when they let you rub their bellies. Very fluffy. Unfortunately, my older cat had a rebellious teenager phase, decided it wasn't a phase, and made being cold and tsuntsun her entire personality. She still likes being pet and does occasionally come up to me to ask for head rubs, but the only time she's super affectionate is when she's just woken up and the tsuntsun hasn't kicked in yet. She leans in, realizes that I'm giving her a head rub after she's had her fill, then fucks off like she's been caught being spoiled by her parents by her friends lol
