Kou really didn't learn anything new?
Page 16. Her father has his fists clenched and he's staring down a sombre looking doctor. Despair.
Seems to me like her father had a terminal disease of some variety, and that may have played a key role in why he became a vampire, and defined his relationship with Kiku. It may be that she turned him out of simple pity, like Haru did for Haruka. It also implies that the reason he didn't come home was because he was hiding his illness from his family, going to doctor visits often, rather than hitting up girls. After all, it's unlikely that he'd develop a relationship with Kiku after a single encounter, vampire or not, and his memories wouldn't be so full of hospital imagery if it wasn't a routine thing.
I feel like Kotoyama does a great job of telling stuff through implication, showing things, doing that sort of iceberg storytelling thing. Strange that Kou didn't catch on, but maybe he just needs some time to process it.
Edit: thinking more, he may have been a cheater before contracting his illness, though the fact that Kyouko seems unaware of his illness does indicate he was hiding it. He also had clearly fallen for Kiku and wanted to cheat, but also felt terrible about it. You can tell from Kiku's reactions on pages 16 and 17 that she's clearly not interested in him. I imagine she made him a vampire to save him from his terminal illness, and he saw it as an opportunity to be reborn and turn over a new leaf.
Edit2: It's also possible that Kiku was trying to ensnare Kyouko's dad, and she was shocked when his imminent death made him reflect on what he really valued in life. Repentance is him telling Kiku he's sorry for lying, and honesty is him revealing his family situation to her. That's probably when she heard about Kyouko. A dying man chose his daughter over Kiku - that's probably why she remembered him. The more I think about it, the more certain I am of this interpretation.
