What kind of random village holds an egg-wasting competition to ensure people coming to buy eggs don't waste them?
... Anyway, my spinach & bacon omelette would utterly obliterate protag's pathetic onion-water. It isn't like I'm any good cooking things that aren't egg-based, but for egg cooking I am well-practiced. Plus who could actually lose to onion-water?
...... Also hoods don't cover faces. Why are they acting like her face and boobs are invisible just because her hair is covered up?

Why do they keep old eggs in cold storage and why are eggs only a local commodity from one region. Chickens are one of the easiest livestock to maintain and they make eggs year round. There is no way that based on supply and demand that eggs are a hard to come by commodity. Even in modern times farm fresh eggs are easy to come by. Let alone when 50% of your population are farmers

For those confused, the contest is to select a merchant who is knowledgeable about egg cuisine so that merchant can buy the eggs from the farm, then flip em to other customers in a way that is safe and satisfactory. It's not a method to bring customers to the village, but to get the eggs that will eventually spoil out with the merchants for selling safely.
He asked if she had a method to determine if they are bad eggs or not. Meaning he knows due to their preservation being compromised, some of them might be unfit for consumption. If she has helped there, she would probably just be there all day long going through each and every egg, just so they could profit.
In the end, she's not a merchant anyways, she wants the eggs for herself to cook so it's not like she'll be re-selling them.
