um... Also not too sure about that, those chapters in the LN were translated all the way back in 2018.
i read the physical release of that part of the LN recently. Can’t remember exactly how it went but pretty sure the reincarnated hero thing was an earlier prophecy and Van accused the titans of combining the two prophecies together for the sake of convenience

The problem isn't nuking anything, it's introducing a completely foreign and uncontrolled concept to a world not ready for it at all.

Good job, you stopped this demon lord with the power of nukes, now everyone saw it and is making their own, 100 years later, every nations has thousands of them, the Demon King has his own and any low level infiltrator demon can just make the whole planet self destruct in nuclear fire.

No, as stated above, it would have been dumb and ruined the world. Try and give nuke technology and infinite ressources to make them to a bunch of random tribes, see how long the world survive.
Youre also pretending this stalled medieval society could produce them and they wouldnt wipe this technology from the world. Lambda isnt post WW2 Earth where everyone was already working on nukes and the USA just happened to finish and use them first. Youre letting unreasonable nuclear fears spill out into a medieval fantasy where only those heroes had the ability to even try and produce such a thing using multiple god cheats.

Less spoilery answer:
The world before Lambda, the people the MC saved there and the other reincarnated heroes there become more important later on.
ABSOLUTE SPOILER ANSWER:
The MC's death mana is kind of unique in that other world so the kids the MC saved while runing away from that lab get some unique abilities related to the MC's Death Affinity and try to get revenge by attacking the other heroes that murdered their savior. That leads to a war between heroes and death ability kids which leads to lots of deaths and betrayals, the dead heroes end up getting reincarnated in Lambda, some Rodcorte send with bodies he built for them to hunt Vandalieau, others decide to be reborn as babies or to just not go after Vandalieau in fear of having their souls destroied.
EXTRA ABSOLUTE SPOILER:
Vandalieau ends up visiting that world later and leaves a piece of his soul to act as a guardian angel for a kid with death affinity just like him, he also gets the blessing from all the gods from that world due to them being pissed af with Rodcorte sending people to reincarnate there without even warning them.
Thanks for all that. Between this chapter and spoiling myself, I am good on continuing this. This chapter just really killed it for me.

At first, I thought I read the wrong manga until I saw the name of Van's world, Lambda.

Creation seems to be a very op ability, especially for war. They even addressed this later on, but weird how none of the gods even got the idea that creation could be used to create powerful weaponry. I'm wondering how creation would actually work though.

Damn, did Vida fuck and get impregnated by a moving doll?

So Van is basically those four erased and merged souls in one. Would that only apply to his current self on Lambda, or does it extent to when he was on earth and that second world?

Should probably apply to Earth. Composite soul gets dumped back into the reincarnation system and forgotten about since that god just left it to die a normal life I'd assume, Vida alters that fate slightly to get him summoned back to her world eventually. This is probably why there were two of the same person (interfere so the composite soul basically gets born as a copy of one of the people who would next get summoned or reincarnate).

Okay so from what I'm understanding, the timeline goes like this:
  • Past Heroes got summoned to Lambda
  • Past Heroes got soul shattered
  • Rodsomethinggod merged the fragments into a new soul
  • New soul entered the reincarnation cycle normally
  • New soul eventually became Van (on Earth, then Origin, then eventually back to Lambda)

I wonder if this is a redcon of ch 1 or the whole time our MC (later became Van) was the aggregate soul of the creationist heroes that vida saved here and reincarnated as another japanese person

I'm ngl this actually actually puts a lot of things into perspective. It turns out heroes and gods being scummy isn't just a recent thing for this universe, but a long-standing er uh standard.

Also Van being 4 destroyed souls merged into one means that although we keep hearing that the souls erased by Van are like...erased. It could mean that the souls he's been erasing rn could manifest and merge into a big great being that could be a massive problem for them later.

And strangely, it's a little heartwarming knowing that Van's soul was even beloved by a goddess in another time and place despite all the bad shit he's been put through, the bad shit thats been done to him, and the bad shit he's been doing.
the souls hes shattering are waking the goddess, shes being powered off them since shes connected to him

There was never any "creation" power. The alternative translation, used in the WN, is production.
As in, they asked powers related to production rather than battle.

https://lightnovelbastion.com/novel/death-mage/volume-3/side-chapter-5/

https://lightnovelbastion.com/novel/death-mage/volume-8/chapter-174/

This is the contradiction I meant.
I think cheat power to nullify damage (given to Zakkart alone) is different from Vida's divine protection (given to many of her followers). In this setting, gods routinely give "divine protections" to suitable people, and these "divine protections" are subtle but versatile effects, totally unlike cheat powers.

...and she made a psycho demon king 2.0 Good job, Goddess
Vandalieu is not a knight in shining armor, but he is much better than Demon King Guduranis. And he is on Vida's side. Or maybe Vida is on his side - it depends on the perspective.

Yes, our MC was the aggregate soul since he was a Japanese school boy. And for unknown number of reincarnations before that.

The idea of the goddess and the heroes shattered souls kinda similar to a short story I wrote few years ago. It's rather rare to see isekai stories dive deep toward this side. Normally they'd just superficial exchanges then living the isekai life.

I've been wondering for a while regarding the soul system. How do populations grow if souls are needed to reincarnate and are a finite source?

you'll have to explain this with some time-axis divergence between worlds or some of that usual bs to explain how all this happened around 200 years before Van reincarnated, cause even counting all his previous lives it must've been 35 years appart at best

you guys can go back and read chapter 27 and you'll get a bunch of connections between the two chapters.

basically the whole war which was said to be such a big fiasco was instigated by the gods to remove all of Vida's believers, so she couldn't recover from the fighting which means (A) gods won't shatter another god's soul, so they'll resort to other means to incapacitate them (B) if Van starts praying to the goddess and spread her doctrine she should be able to swiftly recover (C) Van is not the "true vampire" as Nuaza the lich priest thought, and we can expect his reincarnation to appear in the future

So Van is the 4 creation heroes combined whose souls died in Lambda and then the most evil god sent them back to Earth. Since those heroes didn't play in his original plans, I'm guessing that is the reason he didn't get any powers and instead had to suffer in the first lives. Now Vida blessed him so he can start destroying and getting revenge against the others instead of being their toys.

I really just want to bitch slap the shit out of Rodcorte's self-centric, arrogant, and pompous face. But then, the story would be naught if not for his nonchalant demeanor.

It was never explained. But Rodcorte seemed enthusiastic about population growth, because for him, more souls = more power.

The events in this chapter happened around 100 000 years ago, or something like that. Even Rodcorte was worried that Lambda is stuck in medieval stasis for too long.

There doesn't seem to be any time trickery involved. Just that the Earth summoned heroes of the past come from, is a different world from the Earth where MC and his classmates came from.

Gods can't shatter anybody's soul. Demon King Guduranis was thought to be the only one who could do it, which is what made him so feared. Rodcorte has demonstrated ability to mess with souls, but always to repair them, not to break them.
Now that Vandalieu broke the spear's soul, all the gods are having Vientnam-style flashbacks to war with the Demon King.

I don't remember what's that about the true vampire. Van is a reincarnation of the person whose body Vida used to create vampires and ghouls, but there are a couple more generations that can be called "true" vampires.

Not arguing, just continuing the thought. If population growth means more souls, but souls are finite and if aren't reincarnated then procreations makes soulless monsters... did the author not think this through???
