The translation was sub-par, and the manga doesn't actually let us into the man's head all that much. You can't blame anyone for thinking this was entirely wholesome, with only the girl showing any interest in the guy. You really think it's unreasonable that we'd assume she's just falling for the one guy who was nice to her? I mean, he was even going to return her (Ow), and only decided against it when he found out she was going to be tortured to death.

But that's the thing; I just don't see how people are getting this idea.
The MC literally said that he could wait until she becomes a pretty woman in CH1. (And that's, again, ignoring every other aspect of this which isn't anywhere close to wholesome.)

Sure, he isn't attracted to her right now, but that's because of how her body looks (as evidenced in CH5). Even with the subpar translation, he already let us know that he has no problem seeing her as, at the very least, a bed partner.

He does care for her, obviously, and is making sure she has a happy environment around her. I understand this is where people might get the "Father-Daughter" idea, but this is more about him being a decent person to counter the entire bad reputation trope of the manga, rather than him trying to be a father. In my opinion, the manga has already let us know these two are the endgame, even with said translation.

But that's the thing; I just don't see how people are getting this idea.

The obvious lack of attraction, the fact that he kept her reluctantly, the translation using "hold" instead of "fuck", the lack of additional input on the situation from MC, the lack of any kind of actual grooming on the part of MC... Seriously, the most he's had her do is wash his back. And in Japan, that's not really sexual until you start throwing yourself on each other.

Face it: Harem Choukyuu set up the grooming better, and it literally started off as a comedic "LOOK AT ME SPOILING THESE GIRLS TO DEATH. I AM SO SINFULLY EEEVILLL" series, moved on to be genuinely wholesome, before the author finally gave in and went on play the title of the series seriously.

Maybe the LN has MC throwing the occasional "Just you wait until we get some meat on those bones. Mmmmmm ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)", or some kind of scheduled "play time" or whatever; but this is the manga, and all we're getting is wholesome slice of life with hardly any subtext thrown in.

In my opinion, the manga has already let us know these two are the endgame, even with said translation.

No one is under the impression they're not. But they expect an Usagi Drop situation, where it all comes from the girl, while the dude's just taking care of her.

P.S.: People change their minds all the time. Without further input, the only word we have from him he's going to do anything is something he said once, at the start, off-hand, after finding out he's got no choice but to keep her

He should get to the NSFW before thickening her up so that he has the opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds.

As for where this chapter ended up: I suspect he'll adopt Gina as a live-in tutor for his loli.
It seems like a perfect timing for a perfect coincidence: she needs a place to stay and he needs someone to teach his loli reading and math. She'll pay for her housing by providing services as a teacher.

Fair chance the evicted Gina is going to crash at Harris's place for a while. Given that she's a mage and mage types are typically intellectually inclined, maybe she'll be the one to teach Tiana how to read, write and calculate. That could be her payment for temporary shelter at his house.

At first glance it's tempting to see her as a possible "mother" figure, but I reject that notion considering Harris doesn't think of himself as a "father" figure for Tiana either. Turning Harris and Gina as adoptive parent figures would've been a way to make this truly wholesome, but I don't think this story is heading in that direction. The premise being as it is, it would be a mistake to think it will.

^ This is how I choose to see it. It's currently a fairly wholesome daughter-adoption story, albeit one darkened by slavery and ecchi implications. Even so, I'm not reading it for "grooming" or in hopes of loli pedo sex. Tbh, I'm just reading it for the cuteness, for the SOL character interplay, and out of curiosity, to see where the story goes.

I'm not naive, though. The flags are obvious, and I expect that the parent-child type relationship between the leads will eventually grow into adult (i.e. sexual) romance. But I don't need to worry about that for now. Whether or not the "coming of age" transition works, if indeed it comes, can be determined later. For now, the fluff is enough.
