Seki Yoshimi should never be allowed to write horror again. Let me go cleanse my eyes and mind with some ito junji.

I like that last page where she says about her dead friend "well gee I guess everyone's related in some way".

Some of these horror stories are basically just "if you fuck with someone enough, they'll fucking snap". I guess because they were written in the 1980s before crazy shit became more widely publicized, so they're "fictional" but there are actual crazies out there.

Most of these stories didn't end so badly, but that last one took a turn from "and everyone learned their lesson" to "and everything is horrifying".

This was like reading a Junji Ito manga, but incredibly preachy and nowhere near as interesting.

Social commentary and horror go hand in hand. This anthology is quite interesting and sharp, even if sometimes outdated. It lacks the usual ghosts or paranormal events of the horror of the time, instead it disturbs you with something else... society's ills driven to extreme!
