so this is the power of japan's compulsory education system..
A modern education up to secondary school holds a lot, after all. Germ theory and hygiene. History. Knowledge of other cultures. Astronomy and the nature of the universe. Some fairly advanced mathematics. Political science. Environmental science, including such ideas as the carbon cycle and the water cycle.

These are systematized into bodies of knowledge and techniques of thinking that are quite advanced, as much as we take them for granted. Simply knowing the principles on which a clock works can be revolutionary.

Oh my god. With this one chapter, i can already expect this to be just another trash.

Why do they love to undermine the character by making the mc have all the answers? The thing about steel was fine. But this motherfucker who knows nothing about magictechnology has the ability to give advice to a supposedly talented magic engineer character. Wow. This magic engineer must be anything but talented.

Again. This is just lessening the world and the characters value. Let the magicians know more about magic and let the cook stay in the kitchen. It would be something else if the scene was more "brainstorming" instead of "Oh how could i have not realized such a simple thing?".

I thought this would be a good read but now my night is ruined...

did she just... knead out the impurities? is that supposed to be something she has to intentionally do? because otherwise that should be found out naturally right? human error can just discover that kneading something long enough makes it stronger in that sense.
