Tanja may be the spelling you'd expect given the country she's in, but there's another person serving directly under her with a Russian name. Tanya would be the Russian equivalent of Tanja, so, if their little empire has both naming types in it it wouldn't be weird for her to have the Russian derived version.

The name is Russian based so Tanya should be correct. (Spelling goes Ta-nya, not Tan-ya)
There's no German name with Tanja too, as far as I know.
