Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I did get spoiled by a tread saying her normal endings are implying she died like how in this chapter. Was it canon or not?

It's not really canon but the whole doujin have many references to actual Machan Career story in the game but many of them are dramatized and a bit of hyperbole. In the game Machan legit about to commit unalived herself but stopped immediately by her Trainer and the character event end with the dawn break. While in the doujin Trainer and Machan are separated for a while. While in the game. Not so much. It's short event. Zenrakishi probably prolong that event and taken inspiration more from irl rather than the game. Though the author of the doujin still referencing many character events from Machan career story.
