Plot twist: Maybe Tori (the handmaid) is a guy and was the emperor in the past life, killed her employer/master princess (and possible sister or cousin) with a shotgun because she got tired of her unreasonable demands.
With a little bit of makeup and hair coloring, she would look like the emperor.

I don't trust Tori. If she is an enemy, she's one of the worst ones, 'cause she's the one most closer to that psycho.

These stories keep over hyping silver cutlery, literally only good at detecting one kind of poison which is arsenic. actually more likely to get a false positive from it given things the the mustard family like cabbage can make them tarnish

I think ruppert is testing her. Since she accepted to test for poison and now to entertainher she looks more like someone trying to win his favour than someone trying to be friends.

I wonder if food testing is really effective. How about slow acting poison that kill you after certain days or hours?

Did you know that arsenic poisoning symptoms usually start within 30 minutes to two hours? So, basically you know you've been poisoned once you've finished your meals.

Edit: Well, turn out silver cutlery seem effective to detect certain poison. Silver reacts with sulfur-based compounds and tarnishes. This makes it useful to detect arsenic poisoning. However, modern arsenic production doesn't need to be mixed with sulfur anymore, so you could very likely be doomed if you use the same methods to detect modern arsenic.
