Reading on webtoon doesn't support anyone. Only paying for fast pass supports artists there.
Not too related, but the website is filled with terrible content and toxic comments. I prefer to not visit that place

@Bramia Reading on Webtoon does support the author even if you don’t buy Fast Pass. Fast Pass wasn’t even implemented until maybe 2 years ago—to be blunt, do you really think all the creators were just working for free and Webtoon was just operating at a loss since 2014? The creators sign contracts and are paid a base salary. Popularity/readership on Webtoon further contributes to their pay and is factored into contract renewal/negotiation (I’ve seen many works axed due to low popularity). There are also plenty of ads, which is how they earned revenue before Fast Pass was put in place.

I get that there are works that are below standard on Webtoon, and yes, toxic comments exist, but those can be found here too. Is is really that bad to go to the official publisher’s site and give the chapters a click?

@lovesannie Agreed. Ads are a thing, idk why people keep forgetting about that. Like Facebook is a free platform, but it runs on ads, so why do people think the logic doesn't apply?
Additionally the author doesn't really get supported via fan translations, because this is usually done behind the authors backs. Having their works posted through an official publisher that's paying them to have their work hosted is supporting them.
And tbh, I find more toxic comments here on Mangadex rather than webtoons. At least on webtoons all the shitty comments get filtered out.
