(also, i'm quite surprised the Dad was ok with that, but it's probably because he's trusting his daughter to not do anything stupid, know the boyfriend well enough to trust him too, and want his daughter to actually enjoy her life)

Story time...
When I was a highschooler, my parents did this as well unannounced (for an evening). They went out and left me figure my meal out by myself. This was before stuff like Doordashing, and we didn't have delivery options like pizza or other fast-foods where we lived. So cooking was the only option. Me not having any lick of cooking knowledge at the time, and not having someone who I could turn to like Yoshika-boy here, it went as bad as you can imagine.
Parents came back to a mess of a kitchen (I was in the middle of "trying to clean") and my mother berating me for being so incompetent. That pissed me off. It built up to a big argument. You knew I never cooked until that evening! You knew I never had somebody teaching some basic cooking! You went out thinking I could somehow somewhat summon some Cooking Skills+1 like I had some hidden cheat?! What did you expect?!
And that event was brought up by my mother at every occasion she could slip it into. Sometimes to argue how much the boy can't cook. It really pushed me to never touch a pan again, until when I started living by myself a friend who's a good cook taught me the basics, and now enjoy cooking.
Story/Rant over.
This to say I get irked when I see a parent leaving a kid, generally a boy, who never cooked before "to figure it out."
Not saying this chapter isn't sweet. It's peak.

not teaching your kids basic life skills like cooking, cleaning, etc is a parenting fail tbh.
if the child chooses to not horn those thats on them but they, especially boys, should at least know how to fry an egg or put a load of laundry in bc that kind of incompetence comes back to bite you hard.
