YOOOOO THE MAXX C CHALLENGE. I love the effort to construct a realistic and engaging match in this manga.

Thanks for the translation as always

And they both continue to misplay. The eldlich player is such garbage and shouma needs to stop being stupid.

God that card is cancer. I hope it never comes off the ban list.

I just checked and it's unlimited in the OCG. How fucked is their meta that THAT abomination is nothing to worry about???

@SunsetSeeker I'm not super familiar with the OCG or Virtual World but this is my impression with how it works there. My info might not be completely accurate so take it with a grain of salt.

Maxx "C" exists in a strange place where it works either at 0 or 3, but nothing in between. With it at 1 or 2, opening it feels like an instant win sack, but at 3, the meta is forced to adapt because it's a constant hanging threat on all decks, especially combo decks who suffer the most. As such decks that can exert control in only a few Special Summons as possible are most prominent, like Eldlich, Zoodiac, and Sky Striker. Virtual World is still able to succeed in the OCG despite being a combo deck by main decking tons of Maxx "C" hate like Called by the Grave (at 2 in the OCG vs 1 in the TCG), Crossout Designator (not yet released in the TCG), and of course Ash Blossom (which is also Maxx "C" hate) for a total of 8 cards that can stop a Maxx "C". (Plus if you drop a True King of All Calamities there aren't many decks that can play through it even with the extra cards in hand, probably)

So it's basically like Nibiru in the TCG, the combo decks that can play in the meta have to adapt their combos to be able to play around it. (Of course, in the OCG Maxx "C" can draw into Nibiru, so it's a double threat)

Oh okay, so basically, because the OCG allows more negates for Maxx "C," it can be more easily mitigated and thus considered a lesser threat. That makes sense, thank you.
I'm still all in for the idea that Konami went backwards by limiting Called by the Grave in TCG. That was our only defense for hand traps and I believe Max "C" is the only hand trap to make it onto the TCG banlist. I would say they should at least limit Nibiru, Ash Blossom, and Infinite Impermanence so we could focus more on letting your opponent actually get through their main phase 1 combos instead of playing Solitaire, but then we'd have the OTK decks just dominate the meta even harder. Maybe if they'd ban/limit the actual problem cards instead of the combo extenders we'd get a healthier meta.

Also, just a reminder that we still only have about 3 cards in the game that can actually prevent getting Kaiju'd. Thank God that's not a bigger problem right now.

Maxx C again? Tendo is officially the most obnoxious opponent since Insector Haga.

It’s because it’s ocg that Maxx C is allowed. The meta literally warped around that card, so cards that are banned in TCG aren’t because Maxx C prevents them from being able to play recklessly. Decks are built knowing that every deck has 3 max C’s, and banning it would simply make it the same as the TCG.
